Community Services

Eagle County Paramedic Services's vision is to care for our community using the highest emergency medical standards while seeking continuous improvement in proactive community service. In the late 1980s the District was one of the first agencies in Colorado to introduce automatic defibrillators to the community’s first responders by placing the devices on fire trucks. Today the District has numerous AEDs placed in eastern Eagle County.
Children: Child passenger safety has become increasingly important as the variety of new vehicles and new car seats makes correct fit difficult. The District holds a monthly inspection station for education and installation of child car seats.
Seniors: Senior wellness checks offer our staff an opportunity to visit monthly senior luncheons and discuss health and wellness, including blood pressure, blood sugar level and pulse oximetry evaluations, for citizens in McCoy and Minturn.
Community Event Support: Local ski race, bike race, triathlons, high school varsity football game, and VIP medical coverage is provided for eastern Eagle County. In addition, we offer special event medical coverage consultation for any event to determine necessity for medical coverage.
Youth: Youth ambulance tours, educational school programs and "911 summer camp" offer children of all ages insight into first aid and safety for emergency situations.

Got a Question?

What is EMS?

Emergency Medical Services, more commonly known as EMS, is an essential public service. You can easily recognize EMS when you see ambulances and medical helicopters responding to incidents in our community, but EMS is much more than emergency medical response and transport. EMS is part of an intricate system of agencies and organizations; communications and transportation networks; trauma systems, as well as hospitals, trauma centers, and specialty care centers; rehabilitation facilities; and highly trained professionals —including volunteer and career prehospital personnel, physicians, nurses, therapists, administrators, government officials and an informed public that knows what to do in a medical emergency. Each player in the EMS system has an essential job to perform as part of a coordinated system of care.  —Adapted from NHTSA
