The Denver Health Paramedic School at Eagle County, a satellite site for the Denver Health Paramedic School program, is accepting applications for the 2025 cohort, allowing aspiring paramedics in the western part of the state to receive the same level of training and education offered in Denver at a more convenient location. The application period closes on April 15 and classes will start on May 7, 2025 in Gypsum, CO.

“Providing an option for EMS professionals who want to continue their EMS education closer to home is incredibly important to us,” Daruna said. “There hasn’t been an option for those living on the I-70 corridor or the western slope to pursue paramedic school without relocating to Denver for six, nine or 12 months. This program provides a course that is just as rigorous and dynamic but in a more convenient location.”

The paramedic program will take place from May 7 - Nov. 6 for in-class (didactic) learning as well as some clinical shifts in Denver. The class is scheduled weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 0800 - 1700 in Gypsum. After completing the didactic training student will complete 500 hours of field internship on an ambulance with the Denver Paramedics.

Paramedic Kelly Lombardi, who has worked as both a paramedic, community paramedic and paramedic educator for ECPS, is lead instructor. Lombardi, who holds a Masters in Education, has worked with ECPS for more than 20 years.

"Our first class of students will graduate in April,” Lombardi said. "I was very lucky to have a wonderful group of students in the first cohort. I'm confident they will provide excellent care to their communities and I look forward to watching them learn and grow as paramedics."
