Ken Marchetti

A smiling man in a checked shirt and dark vest against a plain background.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I have been the managing partner of the Edwards office of Marchetti and Weaver, LLC, a regional CPA firm, for more years than I care to admit. Marchetti & Weaver provides financial, management and administration services for multiple local metropolitan and other special districts like recreation, library and cemetery districts, municipalities and homeowners associations.

I currently serve on the board of Eagle County Conservation District, which focuses on conserving our land, soil, water, air, plants and animals for future generations. I also serve on boards for various non-profit organizations like Vail Christian High School. I am on the Colorado Mountain College Accounting Department advisory board as well as several other church, homeowner association and non-profit organization boards.

Why do you want to join the ECPS Board of Directors?

As I have gotten older, I better understand the need for healthcare for our community and personally share in ECPS’s mission to help provide skilled, professional and compassionate health care to our community.  I asked myself how I could help provide healthcare to our community and when I read on the website what your board members do:

  • Attend board meetings
  • Review and adopt the annual budget
  • Approve financial reports
  • Set goals and evaluate progress towards those goals
  • Ask voters to approve bond measures and local option levies for facilities and operations

I thought, “that sounds just like me.”  I have been peripherally involved with ECPS for many years and having dedicated my career to the special district arena I am very familiar with special districts.  I am looking for an opportunity to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family for many years. I think this will be a great opportunity for me to lend my skills to ECPS and to serve my community.

What are some of your prior board leadership experiences?

I am currently serving on the Eagle County Conservation District Board (ECCD).  ECCD spans parts of Eagle, Garfield and Grand Counties and has a property owner list of approximately 31,000 so it is not dissimilar in size to ECPS in terms of land area and number of voters although it is much smaller in terms of operations. During my tenure at ECCD we brought a TABOR tax ballot request to ECCD’s voters and were successful in getting a very small mill levy passed to fund ECCD’s operations.

I am also currently serving as the treasurer of the Vail Christian High School Board of Directors.  I have been in that position for several years and have been fortunate to be able to serve as VCHS transitioned from having to borrow funds to get through each school year to now being debt free and having initiated an endowment fund to support tuition assistance for students.

I have served on the boards of numerous homeowners associations and serve in a professional capacity as administrator for multiple metropolitan districts in the Valley.

What skills, connections, resources and expertise do you have to offer to our organization?

I am a CPA with expertise in governmental accounting and am familiar with many of the other organizations that serve ECPS currently or that serve other similar organizations and could be a referral source for ECPS.

What are your hobbies and interests?

In addition to spending time with our grandchildren in Wyoming and Texas or hosting them on our little hobby farm in Gypsum, I raise a few Scottish Highlander cattle and enjoy helping my master-gardener wife with her chicken flock and tend her large flower and vegetable garden.
